Advantage analysis of basalt fiber used in high pressure pipeline

 

At present, there are high-pressure pipes made of composite materials such as glass fiber, carbon fiber, and basalt fiber on the market, but FRP high-pressure pipes are the most widely used, and basalt and carbon fiber high-pressure pipes should be relatively rare.

       Basalt fiber composite material high-pressure pipeline has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, light weight, high strength, small resistance to conveying liquid, long service life, etc., and is widely used in petrochemical, aviation, construction and other fields. Its main features are: corrosion resistance of H2S, CO2, salt water, etc., low fouling, low wax deposition, good fluidity, flow coefficient is 1.5 times that of steel pipes, excellent mechanical strength, light weight, low installation cost, The design service life is more than 30 years, and in some projects, there is still no problem even after 50 years. Its main applications include: crude oil, natural gas and fresh water pipelines; sewage water injection, downhole oil pipelines and other high-pressure pipelines; petrochemical process pipelines; oilfield sewage and wastewater treatment pipelines; hot spring pipes, etc.

       But in general, basalt fiber high-pressure pipeline is a new product in China and the world, and the current engineering application reports are limited.

 

Its main process:

Comparison and difference between glass fiber and basalt fiber high pressure pipes:

(1) The difference in hydrostatic pressure of basalt fiber/glass fiber pipes with the same specifications of fiber, same layup, same equipment and process verification (taking DN50PN7 as an example, the pressure resistance of EP/CBF is about 30MPa, and the pressure resistance of EP/GF is about 25MPa); At the same pressure level, basalt fiber is reduced by 10% relative to glass fiber, and 20% of the laminate is used to verify its actual hydrostatic pressure resistance level (taking DN50PN7 as an example, the pressure resistance of 2 laminated EP/CBF is about 25MPa).

(2) In the following tests, the overall raw material consumption was reduced by reducing the lay-up method, and the product cost was controlled. The pressure resistance level of the pipeline still met the design requirements, and the cost did not increase significantly compared with the glass fiber pipeline.

 

 

Performance advantages of basalt fiber high pressure pipeline:

(1) Excellent corrosion resistance

Basalt fiber high-pressure pipeline structure is divided into three parts: inner lining layer, structural layer and outer protective layer. Among them, the inner lining layer has a high resin content, generally more than 70%, and the resin-rich layer on the inner surface has a resin content as high as about 95%. Compared with steel pipes, it has much superior corrosion resistance, such as various strong acids and alkalis, various inorganic salt solutions, oxidizing media, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, various surfactants, polymer solutions, various A variety of organic solvents, etc., as long as the resin matrix is selected, the basalt fiber high-pressure pipeline can withstand for a long time (except concentrated acid, strong alkali and HF)

 

(2) Good fatigue resistance and long service life

The design service life of basalt fiber high-pressure pipeline is more than 20 years, but in fact, it is often intact after more than 30 years of use, and it is maintenance-free during its service life.

 

(3) High pressure bearing capacity

The normal pressure rating of basalt fiber high-pressure pipes is 3.5MPa-25MPa (up to 35 MPa, according to wall thickness and gauge), and compared with other non-metallic pipes, the pressure resistance is higher.

 

(4) Light in weight, easy to install and transport

The specific gravity of basalt fiber high-pressure pipes is about 1.6, which is only 1/4 to 1/5 of steel pipes or cast iron pipes. Practical applications show that under the premise of bearing the same internal pressure, the weight of FRP pipes with the same diameter and length is about It is about 28% of the steel pipe.

 

(5) High specific strength and reasonable mechanical properties

The axial tensile strength of basalt fiber high-pressure pipe is 200-320MPa, which is close to that of steel pipe, but the specific strength is about 4 times higher. In the structural design, the self-weight of the pipe can be greatly reduced, and the installation is very easy.

 

(6) Other properties:

Not easy to scale and wax, small flow resistance, good electrical insulation performance, simple connection method, high strength, low thermal conductivity, and small thermal stress.
