Basalt Fiber Reinforced Plastic (refer to as BFRP) is high-performance fiber composite materials,mainly composed of basalt fiber,resin,additives.By means of pultrusion molding process, the reinforced materials such as basalt continuously roving,mat,tape,cloth which soaked with binder Pultruding and curing through mold heating continually produce FPR of any length under the influence of traction.
The action of Basalt fiber is to reinforce and main force, the one of resin is to bond,transmit shear force,protect fiber provides lateral support for the fiber, and the action of binder is to improve physics and chemistry properties of resin. According to structure,it can be divided into BFRP profile,BFRP steel bar,BFRP pipe.
Advantages of BFRP materials
1. Low density
The density of BFRP is only 1800~2100kg/m3, which is 23%~27% of steel(7850kg/m3).The feature makes support convenient transportation and construction,do not reuire lifting equipment during installation, which can greatly reduce transportation,construction and installation costs.
2.High strength
The ultimate tensile strength of BFRP material is 722Mpa,which is 2.15-3.07 times that of steel(grade Ⅰ steel 235Mpa,grade Ⅱ 335Mpa). If equal-strength section design is adopted, the profile section can be reduced,thereby reducing weight of bracket and further reducing the cost of bracket.
3.Excellent corrosion resistance
After soaking in sulfuric acid (H2So4 ) solution with PH=3 for 60 days (acid resistance under simulated natural conditions for 30 years, the strength decreased by about 7.2%;After soaking in NaOH solution with PH=12 for 60 days(acid resistance under simulated natural conditions for 30 days),the strength decreased by about 6.7%; After soaking in water at 25 ℃ for half year(moisture resistance under simulated natural conditions for 50 years),the strength decreased by 4.34%. In replace of spiral steel pipe piles, BFRP columns are directly contacting to underground water, and are highly corrosive,which can greatly reduce corrosive for underground water on the foundation and thereby greatly improving the service life of foundation and even the entire structure.Using BFRP structure instead of traditional steel structure is directly exposed to atmosphere, thereby reducing corrosive effect of atmosphere on the structure, then improving the service life of the structure.
4.Excellent UV resistance
At 26℃,after 5 weeks of irradiation at an ultraviolet intensity of 0.2mj/m2.h(30 years of ultraviolet aging under simulated natural conditions),the intensity decreases by about 8%. If an anti-ultraviolet protective layer is added on the surface of BFRP,the ultraviolet blocking rate can reach 99%.While the structure is directly exposed to sunlight,the strong UV resistance of the BFRP material also greatly prolongs the service life of the structure.
5.Excellent designability
The BFRP structure can choose the matrix and fiber materials and its formula and production process according to the different requirements of the structural performance, so as to meet the requirements of strength, stiffness, corrosion resistance, UV resistance, product color, etc., so as to give full play to the high specific strength of BFRP The advantages of economical use of materials.
6. Easy to shape
According to actual needs, it can be made into FRP profiles of different shapes and specifications.
7. Good maintainability
Due to its good durability, it is basically a maintenance-free structure within the design period. This is very meaningful to ensure the safety of photovoltaic
power plants and reduce maintenance costs.
